Drummond, Emil P. (29 APR 1894 - 11 APR 1953)

Emil Perry Drummond, only son of the late John and Ida (Williams) Drummond, was born at Necedah, Wis. On April 29th, 1894, and passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 11th at Cook, Minn. of a heart attack shortly after he arrived at his office. His death came just two and one half weeks before his 59th birthday.

He was editor-publisher of the Cook News Herald.

He came to Greenwood with hsi parents in 1899, graduated from the Greenwood High School in 1911 and attended business school in La Crosse and worked in Milwaukee for some time. He then went to Minneapolis and worked for the Bureau of Engraving, goring to Cook eleven years ago. He was Cook's No. 1 booster and a strong enthusiast for Minnesota arrowhead Country. During his residence in Cook he had been one of the leaders of St. Louis County Weekly Newspaper Publishers' organization, and also was a member of the Minnesota Editorial Association and the National Press Association. He was a member of the Richfield Lodge F. & A.M. No. 324 of Minneapolis; the Cook Commercial Club; the First Congregational Church of Cook.

Surviving are his wife Lillian, one son and three daughters, one sister, Mrs. John Wuethrich of Greenwood, seven grandchildren, two nieces and six nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Congregational Church at Cook at 2:30 on April 13th by the Rev. Donald Lundquist. The Vermillion Lodge No. 179 Free and Accepted Masons of Tower conducted the Masonic rites.

Graveside services and interment were made in the family plot, Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis on Tuesday, April 14th at 1:00 p.m.

Those from Greenwood attending were Mrs. John Wuethrich, Sr., John D. Wuethrich and the Misses Allie and Florence Williams.
