Himes, Wallace E. (1 DEC 1895 - 5 JAN 1953)

Funeral services for Wallace Elroy Himes, 57, son of Arthur Himes Sr., Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who passed away at Two Rivers, Minn. on Monday, Jan. 5, 1953, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8th in the Griebnow Funeral Home, Owen. The Rev. L.M. Shaw, Withee, officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Anderson Claire American Legion Post, No. 153 of Two Harbors. Military rites were conducted by the Van Huizen Fritz American Legion Post No. 123 of Owen.

During the service Mrs. Harris Johnson sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Mrs. Glen Buchanan.

The pallbearers were Emery Erickson, Wm. Kangnas, John Kovatch, Erv Zelm, John Ericksmoen and Walt Englebretson.

Those in charge of the flowers were his nieces, Mrs. Ted Acker, Mrs. Richard Acker, Mrs. Raymond Wry, Mrs. Richard Mikoljczyk and Miss Nancy Himes.

Wallace Himes was born on Dec. 1, 1895 in the Town of Colby, Clark County, and for the past 15 years he resided in northern Minnesota.

He is survived by his father, five sisters, Mrs. Cliff (Lauretta) Breneman, Ray, Minn.; Mrs. F.W. (Alma) Lange, Bay Harbor, Calif.; Mrs. Hubert (Minnie) Brown, Stephen, Minn.; Mrs. Paul (Hazel) acker, Greenwood; Mrs. Wm. (Estella) Creg, Owen; Lester, Withee; Robert, Ray, Minn.; and Delmar, Finland, Minn.

His mother, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
