Abel, Otto W. (26 December 1901 -
17 September 1971)
Funeral services were held Monday from St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Greenwood for Otto W. Abel, 69, who died at his home Friday.
The Rev. Fr. L. Koopman officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Hugh Severson, Marvin Schillinger, Joe
Tolaney, Sr., Oscar Miller, Julius Hoehne and Carl Lindner.
Mr. Abel was
born December 26, 1901, in the Town of Mead, the son of Frank and Louise (Franz)
Abel. On December 17, 1931, he was married to Grace Herr at Greenwood. They
operated his father’s farm for a year, and then moved to a farm two miles from
Greenwood, where they resided until 1940, when they moved into Greenwood. He was
a carpenter and contractor. Mr. Abel was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church
and a past member of the fire department.
Surviving besides his wife are
three sons and three daughters: Mrs. Harry (Joan) Bujanowski, Wisconsin Rapids;
Mr. Richard (Yvonne) Rondorf, Greenwood; Mrs. Jerry (Donna) Peters, Wisconsin
Rapids; Harold, Marengo, Ill.; Lloyd, Marshfield; and Frank, with the Marines.
There are 17 grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Carl (Laura) Lauby and Mrs.
Adolph (Florine) Wendt of Owen and Mrs. Walter (Ella) Elmers of Milwaukee, and a
brother, Adolph, of Greenwood also surviving.
