Humbird (15 July 1971)

The Senior Citizens, 16 in number, of Merrillan, enjoyed a picnic dinner recently in the Humbird Park. Mrs. Iva Sutton and Mrs. Elda Koboski of the group called at the Newton home.

Mrs. Madge Clun of Elgin, Ill., spent several days recently with her mother, Mrs. Lottie Flynn, and sister, Mrs. Jean Collins and they visited friends in Black River Falls, Bay City and Ellsworth and Red wing, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred of Texas called at the Hein home last Monday afternoon. Mr. Alfred was an army officer and worked under Col. Hein. They were on a vacation through Wisconsin and stopped to see Col. Hein’s parents.

Mahlon Lund, Jr., and family of Alabama have been camping the last week at the Hein cottage. His father, Mahlon Lund, Sr., of Black River Falls, came for a visit with them. All returned to their homes Saturday.

Mrs. Elmer Duerkop visited Mr. and Mrs. Will Hein last Sunday.

Senior Citizens will meet Friday, July 16, at 6 p.m. for a meeting and a picnic supper in the park.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Plowman of Wisconsin Rapids spent Wednesday at the Raymond Stuve home.

Victor Phillips and mother, Mrs. Irene Phillips, of Goshen, Ind., came Tuesday, Victor to spend a few days visiting friends and relatives. His mother will remain for a longer visit at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Raymond Stuve.

Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dignin were in Neillsville Wednesday morning.

Debbie Harris of Madison spent last week with her grandpa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Harris.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Harris of Tacoma, Wash., were guests at the Edwin Harris home from Tuesday until Friday last week. It has been 22 years since Mr. and Mrs. Paul Harris were here.

Mr. and Mrs. William Fradenburg and little son of Goshen, Ind., are visiting relatives and friends here and at Fairchild.

Victor Phillips and Mrs. Irene Phillips drove to Altoona Wednesday to see George Walker who is not very well.

Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sieg and children of Hortonville were weekend visitors at the Rudy Aeschbacher home and at the Rolla Sieg home in Fairchild.
