Alice
Belle Pagel was born on August 24, 1921, one of triplet daughters, born to Louis
and Nettie (Harper) Pagel in the Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp. She received her
education at Reseburg State Grade School and Thorp High School. She married
Steve Danielewicz in 1938 and he later passed away in 1974.
Alice worked
at various jobs and at the Farmers Store in Thorp for 18 years. She left there
for employment at the Clark County Health Care Center, in Owen, and worked there
until her retirement in 1992. In the meantime, Alice moved to Owen in 1976 and
resided there until her death. In addition to working outside the home, Alice
also volunteered at the Senior Center in Owen for over 14 years. She was a
member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Thorp, and was a member
of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. Alice enjoyed her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren, as well
as a special little girl, Jackie, whom she babysat for 10 years. She loved to
sew, do crossword and jigsaw puzzles, go dancing, and in her later years, she
loved to travel. She was an avid baseball fan, attending many games in Milwaukee
and following the team to away games when available on bus tours.
