Klingenberger, Rev. J.C. (14 OCT 1891 - 26 APR 1952)

The Rev. John Charles Klingeberger, son of the late Rev. Ferdinand Klingeberger and Augusta (Nimmrichter), was born Oct. 14, 1891 at Menomonee Falls, near Milwaukee, Wis. In hsi early youth the family moved to Milwaukee, where his father was instrumental in organizing the Salem Evangelical Church at 27th and Brown Streets.

Rev. John C. Klingeberger graduated from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill. in 1911 and from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 1914. In 1916 he was united in marriage to Ethel M. Moeller, daughter of Mrs. Alvina Moeller and the late William H. Moeller of St. Louis Missouri. To this union one son, John F., was born in 1922.

Rev. Klingeberger was ordained into the Christian ministry at St. John's Church in Naperville, Ill. by his father. During his thirty-eight years in the ministry, Rev. Klingeberger served the following Evangelical and Reformed congregations: St. Mark's Latonia, Kentucky; Bethlehem, Louisville, Kentucky; Salem, Huntingburg, Ind.; First church, Shelbyville, Ind.; Immanuel, Greenwood, Wis.; Grace, Kohler, Wis..

In September 1951 he accepted the call of Union Charge in Baltimore Ohio, assuming his duties as Pastor of St. Peter's and St. Michael's Church in October 1951.

Rev. Klingeberger was always interested in helping others. He took an active part in civic and social welfare in each community where he served.

Rev. Klingeberger departed this life suddenly on Saturday, April 26, 1952 at nine o'clock in the morning. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage following a month's illness. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Ethel, his son, Jack; his daughter-in-law, Doris; his grandson, John Phillip; other relatives and a host of friends. Rev. Klingeberger was the last surviving member of his family, having bee preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Martha Miller and Marie Schmithals.

Funeral services were held to his memory on Tuesday, April 30, 1952 at Baltimore, Ohio, in the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church, with the Rev. J. Waldo Bartels of Baltimore and Rev. Arnold Klick of Columbus, Ohio, as officiating ministers. Services were continued in St. Louis on Wednesday, May 1, at the Feutz Funeral Home, with interment in St. Peter's Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo., in charge of Rev. Elmer Hoefer and Rev. A. Abersworth, a classmate, both of St. Louis.
