Kautzer, Nathan (17 May 1911 – 02 Mar 9, 1967)

Nathan Kautzer, 55, route 2, Loyal died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon,March 2, while operating a tractor near his home. A neighbor discovered the death about 3 p.m. when he saw Kautzer’s body slumped over a tractor wheel.

Clark County authorities, after an investigation, attributed death to a heart attack. They said the man had suffered previous attacks.

Services were held Monday, March 6 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, with the Rev. Norbert E. King officiating. Burial was made in the Gate of Heaven cemetery, Marshfield. Military rites were conducted at the gravesite by the American Legion Post of Loyal. The Myre Funeral Home was in charge of all of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Richard Weyer, Robert Waldhauser, Robert Potter, Robert Strey, Victor Strey and Herb Voss.

Mr. Kautzer was born May 17, 1911 at Marshfield. He served in the South Pacific during World War 11, and prior to the war had been a member of the National Guard. Farmed in the Marshfield area until 1949 when they moved ro a farm in the town of Loyal.

November 15, 1941, he married Genevieve Becker at Mellen who survives him.

Mr. Kautzer was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Knight’s of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, and the Disabled Veterans of Marshfield.

Besides his wife he is survived by a son, David Kautzer, route 2, Spencer; a brother, Robert Kautzer, Madison and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
