Moseley, Verna P. (22 JUL 1915 - 14 AUG 2013)

Verna P. Moseley, 98, Alma Center, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Family Heritage Care Center, Black River Falls, while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church, Northfi eld. Rev. David Christianson officiated. Burial followed in Upper Pigeon Creek Cemetery, Northfield.

Verna Toxen was born on July 22, 1915, in Taylor, to Cole and Carrie (nee Borreson) Toxen. She was raised in the Taylor area and after school she went on to attend and complete the Teacher Training Course at Union High School in Black River Falls on May 27, 1935. She taught in rural schools in the Taylor area. On Sept. 29, 1940, she married Robert G. Moseley in Cresco, Iowa. Together the couple farmed in Melrose, before purchasing a farm in the Town of Garden Valley, rural Alma Center. After retiring from farming, they resided in Alma Center. Verna loved to visit with people and always had a smile to share. She enjoyed telling stories of her childhood, shopping, playing cards, puzzles, picking strawberries, watching the Green Bay Packers, and she loved to be with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verna never missed the Jackson County Fair, including this year. She was a member of Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church, Ladies Aide, Homemakers, the Guernsey Association, and was a 4-H leader.

Verna is survived by her children, Robert A. (Nancy) Moseley, Greenwood, and Sandra M. (Donald) Fraser, Colorado Springs, Colo.; her grandchildren, Todd (Lynda) Moseley, Scott (Jean) Moseley, Dan Fraser, Tom (Katie) Fraser, and Rachel and Kaden Moseley; eight great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Linda Moseley, Osseo; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Moseley, in January 1982; a son, Fredric Moseley; a grandchild, Terri Miller; two sisters, Irene and Norma; two brothers, Edwin and Merlin; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Moseley.

Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, assisted the family with arrangements.
