Dankemyer, Lora Rae (4 August 1955 - 26 July 2013)

Lora Rae Dankemyer, 57, of Chippewa Falls died peacefully July 26, 2013, while in the exceptional care of Wissota Health and St. Joseph’s Hospice.

She was born Aug. 4, 1955, in Marshfield to Esther (Beil) and Gerald Dankemyer. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1973 and then moved to Eau Claire for employment. She worked in the service industry most of her life, working at Four Corners for her sister Paulette and brother-in-law Jim, Mary’s Country Villa and Pick’n Save bakery. Lora was also a volunteer for St. Joseph’s Hospice. For the last 10 years, Lora worked in food service at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls. She enjoyed relating to the elderly and loved working with her co-workers; regretfully she had to resign due to her declining health in February 2013.

Lora’s niece and nephew, Katie Lower Chamberlain and Ben Lower, were much like her own children. Lora spent an enormous amount of time with them, as they were growing, and was with them through-out all of the milestones of their lives. Ben and Katie’s children were also a significant part of Lora’s life.

Lora “Lou” had a zest for life. Her hobby was people, and she had an infectious smile that brightened any room. Her hugs were given often and her time was given freely. Lora’s friendships knew no boundaries. She was full of love for everyone. Her legacy will live on through all who deeply loved her.

She adored her family and cherished time spent with them. We cannot count Lora’s close friends, as there are so very many. They have been the best of friends, supporting her especially during the course of her illness.

Lora will be dearly missed by her two sisters, Paulette Lower (Larry) Baumgartner of Menomonie and Margo (Patrick) Greer of Milwaukee; nephew, Benjamin (Tami) Lower of Lakeland, MN; niece, Katherine “Katie” (Eric) Chamberlain of West St. Paul, MN; great nieces and nephew, Sara, Addison and Allison Lower, Alaina and Harrison Chamberlain; aunts, Hazel Doehr and Dorothy Seif, both of Marshfield; many special cousins; and the best friends in the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, James Lower; and her close friend, Lynn Lowe.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls, with Reverend Terri Koca officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Yolo Cemetery near Marshfield.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice or to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or online at www.donate.cancer.org.
