Funeral services for Abner Scidmore, 86, of Colby who
died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday at the Leahy Nursing Home at Abbotsford were held
Tuesday afternoon. The body was
taken from the Lulloff Funeral Home where it lay in state since Sunday evening
to the United Church of Christ at Colby where the Rev. Wallace Hermann conducted
the services at 2 o’clock.
Pallbearers for the interment which was made in the Colby
cemetery were Albert Scidmore, Harry Scidmore, Frank Scidmore, Clarence
Scidmore, all of Janesville, Lloyd Scidmore, Colby, and Robert Funk, Madison.
Mr. Scidmore was born at Hanover July 16, 1878.
After his marriage to Ella Funk on June 22, 1905, the couple lived in
Janesville for 11 years during which time Mr. Scidmore followed the carpenter’s
trade. The family then moved to a
farm in the Dorchester area until 1948 when Mr. and Mrs. Scidmore retired and
moved to Colby.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons,
Henry, Robinsdale, Minn., Fred, Colby, Robert, Milwaukee, and Herbert,
Abbotsford; five daughters, Mrs. Oliver (Gladys) Blekre, Minneapolis, Mrs.
Halver (Catherine) Gilbertson, Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Donald (Gertrude)
Schreiber, Colby, Mrs. Clifford (Ruth) Lindboe, Palatine, Ill., and Mrs. LaVern
(Evelyn) Sauter, Marshfield; 37 grand children and 16 great grand children.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two
sisters.
