Ben Johnson of Stevens
Point, arrived here Monday for a visit with relatives.
The German Ladies
Society will meet with Mrs. Chris Braun Friday, May 17th.
Joe Christie is
confined to his home with the mumps.
P.M. Stevens completed a single
harness yesterday ready for delivery to Chas. Richeleu, that weighed 3 1/2
pounds, all equipped ready for the animal to be hitched onto the wagon.
The first ball game of the season will be played at the ball grounds next
Saturday afternoon between Loyal and Greenwood High School teams. Admission 15
and 25 cents.
Someone in the village of Withee set out dog poison last
week and succeeded in getting a few of the canine. The same thing happened at
Abbotsford a short time ago.
According to one of our exchanges a report
says that Curtiss is to have a new bank.
The Osseo News, a new paper just
launched at Osseo last week, by Gilpin and Gilpin, has been received at our
exchange table.
O.C. Behrens was transacting busienss at Thorp the first
part of the week.
The next regular meeting of the Beavers will be Friday
evening at Volk's Hall.
The R.N.A. Cozy Club will meet with Mrs. Ed
Griener, Wednesday, May 15.
Rural carrier Geo. Van Voorhis is taking his
vacation of 15 days and Mrs. Van Voorhis substituting.
Fred Fravert and
family of Rib Lake arrived Saturday for a visit with his parents and other
relatives on the West Side.
Louis Radke's team ran away Monday morning,
narrowly averting what might have been a serious accident to either a pedestrian
or the team. They were standing near Hoehne's Store when they took fright,
immediately breaking into a run and going south. At the Big Store they turned
abruptly toward the windows and swung, running down the walk between the awning
posts and building. No injury resulted.
J.H. Denney of Stevens Point is
here this week working in the interest of the Maccabees. An efforts is being
made to revive the lodge here.
