Tompkins, Rebecca (5 MAR 1842 - 15 APR 1912)

After fourteen weeks of suffering, Mrs. Rebecca Tompkins was called from our midst Monday morning, April 15th, 1912. With her death a kind neighbor and noble friend is lost to us. Her mild and gentle manners and winning grace endeared her to all who ever had her acquaintance.

Rebecca C. Edmunds was born in Canada, March 5th, 1842. She came to Wisconsin in 1886 with her parents, brothers and sisters, and has resided in the town of Eaton until the time of her death. She was married to Jones Tompkins in 1892.

Besides her sister, Mrs. Mary Edmunds Loft, who has resided with her for the past seven years, she is survived by one sister in Lents, Oregon, one brother in Washington, one brother in Canada and several nephews and nieces.

After the fever of live: "after weariness and sickness, struggling and failing; struggling and succeeding after all the changes and chances of this short life,, come death, and then Peace and Rest."

All that loving and sympathetic hands could do to smother and ease the suffering of the remaining hours, was done; and it was with saddened heart we bid the last farewell to our friend and neighbor.
