Tieman, Shirley (24 Aug 1927-25 May 2013)
Shirley A. Tieman, 85, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Oakbrook
Health & Rehab. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 1, at
St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp. Rev. Gerald Heinecke officiated. Burial
followed in the Town of Butler Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tim Tieman, Travis
Tieman, Perry Abel, Eric Martinson, Chuck Martinson and Robert Abel. Honorary
pallbearers were Barry Washburn, Brian Abel, Doug Tieman and Daniel Disch.
Shirley Ann Tieman was born on Aug. 24, 1927, in the town of Butler on the
home farm, the daughter of Charles and Helen (nee Culp) Tieman. She was raised
on the family farm and received her elementary education in the Butler area, and
graduated from Greenwood High School in 1945. Shirley married Theron Pagel on
May 25, 1946, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp. They later divorced. She
worked for many years at Blue Moon Cheese in Thorp,later Foremost, and , and
then purchased the Long Branch Bar west of thorp on Highway 29. She continued to
work at Foremost for a short time while operating the bar until retiring and
running the Long Branch full time. She retired from the bar in the late 1990’s
and leased it to Koot and Frannie, finally selling it to them in 2009. She
resided in Thorp until entering Oakbrook Nursing & Rehab in June 2009. She was a
member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and had many interests including antiques,
going to auctions, her flower gardens, garage sales, casinos, cooking and
socializing.
Shirley is survived by one brother, Jerome (Lois) Tieman,
Loyal; four sisters Arlene Martinson, Union Grove, Joyce Washburn, Carmel, Ind.,
Alice Kennedy, Loyal and Linda Disch, Lake Mills; and many nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and
three brothers, Ronald Tieman, Gaylord Tieman and one in infancy.
Thorp
Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
