Greenwood (9 October 1969)

The Adult Fellowship met Sunday evening in the Immanuel United Church. Leroy Fravert presided. Devotions were by Mrs. Leroy Fravert. Following the business meeting Mrs. Harry Meinhardt showed slides of her recent trip to Germany. A lunch was served by Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Fravert, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Horn and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Horn.

Those who went on the senior citizens trip included: Miss Brooks Rector, Mrs. Hattie Forman, Mrs. Elsie Lueck, Eva Wendt, Mrs. Leslie Milton, Mrs. Ed Gehrt, Mrs. Viola Free, Mrs. Marion Begley, Mrs. Martha Brown, Mrs. Ida Nehls, Mrs. Elsie Gress, Mrs. Agnes Cummings, Mrs. Estelle Krejci, Mrs. Alma DeCremer, Mr. and Mrs. George Schaefer, Mrs. E. Crothers, Mrs. Emma Gerlach and Mrs. William Belter of Neillsville; Mrs. Lucille Lunka of Willard; Mrs. Joe Ulesich, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Noah, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Horn, Mrs. Tillie Poppe, Mrs. Vincent Sowieja, Mrs. Effie Swieso and Miss Louise Keiner of Greenwood; Mrs. Ben Bowe, Mrs. Laura Stayton and Mrs. Ceceilia Anderegg of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Benzschawel, Mrs. Mabel Misfeldt, Louis Gruszynski, Frank Lieswauk, John Pennebecker and Mr. and Mrs. Polnaszek of Thorp.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Horn went to Madison Wednesday, where they attended the funeral of her uncle, Frank Gilbert.

Truman Hill and daughter, Judy, and his brother, Harold Hill of Madison, have returned after spending a week with their twin sisters, Mrs. Herman Zacharios of Gresham, Ore., and Mrs. Harold Dyke of Maupin, Ore., and their families. They also did some salmon fishing while there.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cox, Arleigh Syth and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heiking spent Sunday sightseeing. They also visited with Paul Hemp antique vehicle museum at Rochester, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Toburen and Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Bell have returned after a 10-day trip through the Ozarks, Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas. They visited a former Greenwood resident, Mrs. Alice Egbert at Abilene, Kans.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stafford spend Sunday with her brother, Roger Gray, in Readstown.

Guests Sunday at the Lewis Kaudy home were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sischo of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Metcalf and Kenneth Metcalf of Neillsville.

World Wide communion Sunday will be observed Sunday in the United Churches of Greenwood. The service at the Zion Church is at 9:30 a.m. and at the Immanuel Church at 10:45 a.m. “Neighbors in need” offerings will be received in both churches.

Mr. and Mrs. Lanny Stewart and family moved Thursday from their home six miles north of Greenwood into the Stewart Cheese building apartment on South Main Street.

The children and grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Noah came to help their mother celebrate her birthday, which occurred Sunday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Karlen, Michael, Jeffrey and Kristilyn of Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hoffman, Charlene, Val, Renee and Kurt of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fitzl and son, Ricky, of Wonder Lake, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stark, Ginny, Dania, Todd and Carie of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Noah, Shelly and Jodi; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Braun, Mrs. Clara Liebzeit and Mrs. Bertha Buker.

Mr. and Mrs. William Kuester and Mr. and Mrs. George Caliebe visited in Marshfield Sunday with John Vesel of Greenwood, who is a patient at the hospital.

The Clark County Homemakers are sponsoring the “Idea Theatre” group of the University at Madison, who will present a musical play at the Owen-Withee High School auditorium at 8 p.m. this (Thursday) evening. The program will include several selections by the Clark County Male Chorus.

Mr. and Mrs. Arleigh Olson were weekend visitors here and spent Sunday afternoon at the Thomas Erickson home before returning to Blanchardville.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schwarze returned Monday from Milwaukee after visiting since Friday at the Norman Olson home.

Weekend guests at the home of Mr. Glen Drew were Mr. and Mrs. James Turnquist and Lisa, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Drew and family of West Allis and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Drew of Viroqua.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Braun left Monday to visit their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Wittwer, at Marion, Ia.

Mrs. Don Warner and Lawrence Jackson spent the weekend with their brother Harold Jackson and family at La Crescent, Minn., and attended the apple festival there.

Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Wallick spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. William N. (Sue) Olson and family at Amherst.

Sunday afternoon and supper guests at the Hubert Horn home were Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Schwarze, Mrs. Bertha Dallman, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horn and Mrs. Gust horn.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Horn and family and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horn were guests Saturday at the Verne Vollrath home in Janesville.
