Zion Lutheran Church, Granton was the scene of a seven o’clockcandle light service for the wedding of Miss Joyce Garbisch and Douglas Opelt on Saturday, April 25.
The nuptials were repeated before the Rev. F. C. Benecke during the double ring ceremony. “The Wedding Prayer” and the “Lord’s Prayer” were sung by the soloist William Chambers of Black River Falls with Mrs. Leland Garbisch presiding at the organ.
White snap-dragons decorated the altar with lighted candelabrum on the pews and chancel.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Garbisch was presented in marriage by her father. Mr. and Mrs. Max Opelt are the groom’s parents.
The bridal dress was of white peau de soul, trimmed with Venice lace and with a chapel length veil. Her bouquetwas white orchids. Miss Kathleen Garbisch, LaCrosse, matron of honor wore a loden green brocaded satin floor length dress with bridesmaids Miss Judy WEnck, Woodstock, Illinois and Miss Carole Lehman, St Paul, carried yellow chrysanthemums. The best man was John Opelt, Wilmington, Ohio and groomsmen were Michael Opelt, Granton and Erlin Garbisch, Milwaukee. Ushers were Jerry Opelt and Stanley Wenck.
Relatives and friends came from Woodstock, Illimois, St. Paul, Ohio, Burnett, Grafton, West Bend, Cederburg, Black River Falls, LaCrosse and Granton.
Supper was served to about 165 guests following the ceremony at the church dining hall. A reception was held later at the bride’s home.
Both the bride and groom are graduates of Granton High School in the class of 1961. They plan to live in St. Paul, Minnesota, where they have employment.
