Staszcuk, Mr./Mrs. John (Gold – 16 AUG 1964)

Mr. and Mrs. John Staszcuk, Gilman, observed their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 16. They began their special day with renewal of marriage vows at 9:30 high mass at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, with Rev J. Dzurko officiating. The altars were decorated with yellow gladiolus.

Mr. and Mrs. Staszcuk were led into the church by six of their grandchildren. Serving as flower girls were Marilyn Staszcuk of Chicago, Marilyn Slipek of Thorp, and Donna Christen of Lombard, Illinois. They were all dressed alike in yellow dressed and yellow hats. Serving as flower boys were Gary Staszcuk of Wheaton, Illinois, Allen Staszcuk of West Chicago, Illinois and Johnnie Staszcuk of Eau Claire.

The bride of fifty years ago wore a blue lace dress with matching accessories and a corsage of a white orchid. Mr. Staszcuk wore a yellow rose.

Their attendants of their wedding were Mrs. Mary (Olichwier) Moczarny of Thorp, Carl Burzec of Chicago, and Victor Nicoski of Gilman. They were presented with corsages of yellow carnations.

A dinner reception and dance was given at Koolmo’s Ballroom in honor of the jubilarians by their six children. The Happy Notes and their recording orchestra of Stevens Point, Wis. provided the music for afternoon and evening dancing.

Kasimiera Nicoski and John Staszcuk were married in 1914 at St. Peter and Paul church in Gilman, where they farmed for 32 years. They moved into town where Mrs. Staszcuk has cooked for Gilman Public Schools for 14 years. They are both active in church and community activities. Mrs. Staszcuk served as a treasurer for Rosary Society for many years, and Mr. Staszcuk is a director of Polish National Alliance of the Gilman group. They both are in good health and have love for gardening of flowers.

They have six children. They are (Victoria) Mr. Wm. Christen, Lombard, Illinois; Stanley of Eau Claire, Wis.; Wally of Wheaton, Illinois; Case of Chicago, Illinois; Henry of West Chicago, Illinois and (Theresa) Mrs. Ray Slipek of Thorp. They also have 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. All but one grandson attended the happy occasion

Relatives and friends attending were from Denver, Colo., Chicago, West Chicago, Lombard, Wheaton, Park Ridge, River Forest, Melrose Park, Cary, Westchester and Berwyn, all in Illinois; and from St. Cloud, Duluth and Rochester, Minn., and Superior, Milwaukee, Stevens Point, Chippewa Falls, New Auburn, Rice Lake, Eau Claire, Thorp, Lublin and Gilman area.
