Wiersig, Connie K. (5 SEP 1964)

The Rev. Harold G. Woodworth read the marriage service in Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, Saturday, Sept. 5, during which Miss Connie Kay Wiersig became the bride of Larry W. Raatz. During the ceremony, performed at 3:30 o'clock, Mrs. Dorothy Neuman sang "Whither Thou Goest" and "Wedding Prayer."

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiersig of Colby and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Raatz of Route 1, Owen.

The bride was attired in a princess style floor length gown of peau de soie. The fitted bodice had a scoop neckline and long, fitted sleeves and the bell shaped skirt was detailed with re-embroidered Alencon lace motifs in the front and extended to a train in the back. The headpiece which secured the hand rolled fingertip veil of nylon illusion was fashioned with seed pearls and rhinestones. She carried a crescent bouquet of white roses, stephanotis and ivy with ribbon streamers.

For her matron of honor, the bride chose her sister, Mrs. Janice Davison. Mrs. Dorothy Denzin, the groom's sister, was the bridesmaid.

They wore floor length formals of sunny gold acetate peau with fitted bodices and oval necklines. The sheath skirts were accented in back by fly away panels with bow trim. They wore headpieces made with a cluster of matching acetate peau petals with pearl trim and pouf veils. Bronze pompons, wheat and cattails and croton leaves were combined in the bouquets.

Robin Sue Schoelzel, who served her aunt as flower girl, was dressed like the bride and dropped rose petals from her lace basket as she proceeded up the aisle.

Attending the groom as best man was his cousin, royal Neumann. Douglas Denzin, his brother-in-law, was the groomsman.

About 175 guests attended the reception and dinner held at the City Hall in Colby. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at Sportsmen's Park.

Guests came from St. Paul, Minn.; Waukegan, Ill.; Milwaukee, Marshfield, Owen, Mercer, Rib Lake, New Holstein, Appleton, Spencer, Menasha, Thorp, Unity, Sturtevant, Oshkosh, Greenwood, Newton and Wausau.

Spencer will be the home of the new Mr. and Mrs. Raatz. The bride is employed at the Spencer State Bank and the groom is employed at Spencer sports Products.
