Olson, Myrtle May (31 October 1875 - 14 June 1969)

Mrs. Myrtle May Olson, 93, mother of Neillsville’s Mayor Kenneth Olson and a resident of Memorial Home, Neillsville, died there Saturday, June 14. Funeral services were held from the Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. E. G. Burtness officiating.

Mrs. Olson was born October 31, 1875, in the Town of Coby to Francis and Barbara (Shanks) Tuttle. She received her education there and also was married there to Oluf Olson on March 27, 1901. He died in 1961.

Due to failing health, the last few years of her life have been spent at Memorial Home. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Olson is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Albert (Fern) Holt and Mrs. Ellen Johnson, both of Neillsville; Mrs. David (Barbara) Daniel of Cambria; Mrs. Ewald (Sarah) Schwarze of Greenwood and Mrs. Lowell (Mildred) Dorn of Abbotsford; three sons: Kenneth of Neillsville; Gilbert of Rice Lake and Oluf of Wisconsin Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Martha Tuttle of Oregon; 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Eastern Star services were held Monday evening at 8 o’clock at the Georgas Funeral home. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Larry Olson, Bill Holt, John Daniel, Herman Friess and Donald and Stanley Schwarze. “Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and “Abide with me” were sung by Wilfred Galstad, accompanied by Mrs. E. G. Burtness.

Leu and Mrs. Lawrence Neitzel of Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Byron Olson, Edna Van Roy, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Voelker of Colby; Emma A. Skinner of Bloomington; Mrs. Bill Kent of Galesburg, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Reil of Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Olson of Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Neil Duxbury and Mrs. Mahlon Nordahl of Black River Falls.
