Gengler, Elizabeth (23 MAY 1879 - 22 MAR 1965)

Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church her on Friday, Mar 26th for Elizabeth Gengler, 85, who passed away March 22nd, 1965 of old age infirmities. Father Francis Brockman officiated at the ten a.m. service and burial was made in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Bill and Claude Benzschawel, Wayne and Frederic Gengler, Daniel and Joseph Jensen.

Elizabeth Jacque was born May 23, 1879 in Ozaukee County, Wis. On Feb. 9, 1904 she was united in marriage to Joseph Gengler at Holy Cross, Wis. They farmed at Fredonia, Wis. Until 1907, when they moved to the Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) community. She farmed with her husband at the farm where the Hoffman Dairy is presently situated, for 26 years, retiring to Thorp in 1940. She was a charter member of the W.C.O.F., St. Bernard's Court 1099. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers at St. Bernard's.

Surviving are her husband Joseph Gengler; three sons, James of Fond du Lac, Wis., Harry of Cromwell, Conn., Ray of Lakeland, Fla.; two daughters, (Margaret) Mrs. Frank Benzschawel, (Bernadine) Mrs. Donald Jensen, both of Thorp; one brother, John Jacque of Port Washington, Wis.; 28 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Relatives attending the funeral were from North Dakota, Minnesota, Connecticut, Florida, Milwaukee, Port Washington, Madison, Medford, Fond du Lac and Fort Atkinson.
