Balla, Jason R. (19 JUN 1972 - 4 APR 2013)

Former Medford resident Jason R. Balla, 40, Mosinee, died on Thursday, April 4 at his home in Mosinee, where he had resided the past three months.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Medford, with Rev. Brian Wipf officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Chad Cockerell, Tony Olsen, Larry Etten and Steve Balla.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Jason Balla was born on June 19, 1972 in Marshfield to Robert and Paula (Ertl) Balla. He attended schools in Placerville, Calif., and Medford High School. He grew up in Placerville and moved to Medford during his high school years. He worked various jobs in the Medford area.
He enjoyed music, playing guitar, fishing and sharing his faith.

Survivors include his mother, Paula (Bryan) Arndt of Medford; a sister, Michelle Dunn of Medford; four step-sisters, Leslie (Tyler) Reed of Milliken, Colo., Jenni (Darrell) Gatling of Hawaii, Natalie Arndt of Loveland, Colo. and Janelle Arndt of Topeka, Kan.; three step-brothers, Paul (Mae) Arndt of Greenfield, Kyle (Amanda) Arndt of Ashland and Jon (Rose) Arndt of Florida; maternal grandfather, Wally Ertl of Medford; paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Balla of Placerville; aunts and uncles; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Balla; maternal grandmother, Jo Anne Ertl; paternal grandfather, Steve Balla Sr.; a brother, Chris Balla in 2001; a step-sister, Melody Arndt in 1992; and a brother-in-law, Steve Dunn.
