Wahl, Roger A. (15 March 1931 - 16 February 1969)

Funeral services for Roger A. Wahl, 37, Neillsville druggist who died Sunday afternoon following an apparent heart attack, were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the United Methodist Church in Neillsville. The Rev. William Dushek was in charge. Graveside services were to be conducted at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon in the Stone Church cemetery at Houston, Minn., Wahl’s home town.

Wahl suffered an attack while acting as an official during the Neillsville Winter Carnival snowmobile races at the fairgrounds. He was given emergency assistance on the spot by Dr. T. N. Thompson, who was present on the ground, and by Ellis Wall and Delbert C. Struble who were nearby. Then he was rushed to Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed.

Wahl had suffered a congenital heart condition since his youth, and had spoken to friends in recent months about the possibility of undergoing surgery later this year to have a “Pacemaker” installed.

Wahl came to Neillsville about two and one-half years ago, purchasing the old Kearns Rexall Drug Store. For 11 years prior to coming to Neillsville he had been employed in the Merwin Drug Store in Robinsdale, Minn.

He was born March 15, 1931, in La Crosse, he attended schools in Houston, Minn., and was graduated from the school of pharmacy, University of Minnesota, in 1955. He was married on September 5, 1953, to the former Patricia Wilcox in Houston.

While in Neillsville, Mr. Wahl was active in the Chamber of Commerce, of which he was a director, and the Neillsville Rotary club. He also was a member of the Wisconsin Pharmaceutical association. The family had built a new house on the southeast edge of the city and moved in about Christmas time.

Surviving are his wife; three children, Thomas, Nancy and Kari, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wahl of Houston; and a brother, Ronald of Minneapolis, Minn.
