Ziebell, Arleigh J. (1 Nov. 1921 – 11 Feb. 2002)

Arleigh J. Ziebell, age 80, of 700 S. Oak Ave., died Monday evening, Feb. 11, 2002, at the House of the Dove.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ron Nielsen will officiate. Maldon Plank will provide music. Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to service time Friday at the church.

Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Ziebell was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Wausau, a daughter of the late William and Violet (Zachek) Lange. She graduated from Wausau Senior High School and later enjoyed many of the art classes offered at the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County.

She was married to Herbert M. Ziebell on June 10, 1944, in Wausau. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1999.

After raising her three children and caring for her husband, Herbet, Arleigh pursued her interest in art. That interest soon turned into passion, which led her to attend classes at the university. She contimued painting and participating in art shows throughout Wisconsin. Mrs. Ziebell received several awards for her artwork. Her paintings were selected to be included in many Wisconsin Regional Art Association state art shows. She received numerous awards and certificates of merit.

Arleigh was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and Ladies Circle. She also enjoyed volunteering at the New Visions Gallery, located in the Marshfield Clinic.

Mrs. Ziebell cherished time spent with family and friends at their cottage on Miller Lake in Hazelhurst. She also looked forward to annual excursions to New York with her friends to attend Broadway shows. She took pleasure in listening to Jazz and Blues music.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Thomas (Sara) Ziebell of Oklahoma City, Okla., John Ziebell of Stevens Point, and Anne (Bernie) Mangers of New Berlin; grandchildren, Lynn, Stephanie, Joel, John Jr., Nicole, Andrew, Aaron, David Ziebell and Emily Mangers; and great grandchildren, Emily Rae and Anne Ziebell.

Memorials in Mrs. Ziebell’s name may be designated to the UW Marshfield Art Department.
