Waskowiak, Ronald J. (10 Jan. 1943 – 9 Dec. 2008)

Ronald J. Waskowiak, 65, of Marshfield died on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Don Meuret officiating. Suzanne Golden will provide the music for the services. Entombment will be in McMillan Memorial Gardens Cemetery in the town of McMillan, Marathon County.

Family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Ron was born in Waukesha on Jan. 10, 1943, to Ralph and Esther (Krueger) Waskowiak. He graduated from Edgar High School and Northcentral Technical College in Wausau with an associate's degree in computer science.

He was united in marriage to Veronica B. Kaiser on July 4, 1970, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford.

He was a semi-truck owner and operator for 10 years. He then worked for Roehl Transport as a driver and driver trainer for 19 years, retiring in 2008. Ron was also involved in the Trucker Buddy program and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He was active in the Wood County Republican Party for more than 10 years and served as the county chairman for two terms. Ron was passionate about politics, education and his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His only grandchild, Lucky, was the light of his life.

Ron is survived by his wife Veronica "Ronnie"; daughter Stefane (Cale) Laessig of Hewitt and their son Lucky Laessig. He is further survived by two sisters, Audrey (Jacob) Reckner of Wausau and Beverly (Mike) Schneck of Milwaukee.

Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother James.
