Elmer H. Bergs (3 Nov 1912 - 25 Feb 200)

92, 801 Hemlock St., Marathon, died Friday, February 25, 2005 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born November 3, 1912 in Poniatowski, son of the late Hubert and Adeline (Schueller) Bergs. On February 25, 1933 he married Theresa M. Golla at the former St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on August 16, 1991.

Elmer was the owner and operator of Bergs Radio and Appliance. He also worked as a part time insurance agent for over 30 years at State Farm Insurance. Prior to his retirement Elmer was a manager at Kmart. Above all things he enjoyed golfing, playing cards and spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren. Elmer was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Leo Court #795, Marathon.

Survivors include his children, Judith (Allen) Masanz, Marathon, Richard Bergs, Marathon and John (Margo) Bergs, Rib Falls, four grandchildren, Mara (Larry) Bushee, Mark (Julie) Bergs and Neil and Randy Masanz along with one daughter-in-law, Tosca Bergs, South Carolina.

Besides his wife Elmer was preceded in death by one son Ronald.

The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
