Wenzel, Mildred A. (August 16, 1925 - March 14, 2009)

Mildred A. Wenzel, age 83, Stratford, died on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

Mildred was born on August 16, 1925, in the Town of Emmet, Marathon County, to Jacob and Mary Ellen (Handrick) Kurtzweil. She was a graduate of St. Robert’s Parochial School, Halder, and Stratford High School.

She and Leo J. Wenzel were married on August 8, 1945, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Halder. He died on December 6, 1994.

Mildred is survived by her children, John (Janice) Wenzel of Rice Lake, Donna (Gerry) Leffel of Wausau, and Jerry Wenzel of Stratford. She is also survived by two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren, Traci Wenzel and her son Jacob, and Jennifer (Brian) Rohlick and their children, Brittney and Brendan.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sons, James and David Wenzel; and brothers, Jacob “Earl” Kurtzweil, Francis “Allen” Kurtzweil, and Norbert Kurtzweil; and a sister, Glendene Bloczynski.

Mildred A. Wenzel, age 83, Stratford, died on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford. Rev. Thomas Rudolph will preside and music will be provided by St. Joseph’s Resurrection Choir. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine. Serving as pallbearers will be godchildren, Dennis Frodl, Richard Smith, Lou Ann Meyer, Leon Wenzel, Brian Bloczynski, and Kevin Kutzweil.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Sauter-Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at St. Joseph’s Church. A combined parish and Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service was held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
