Stelzl, Arnold E. (6 Jan. 1924 - 1 July 1979)

SPENCER - A town of Brighton farmer, Arnold E. Stelzl, 55, Route 2, was dead on arrival at 2:10 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. William Ruhbusch officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Russell Lang will provide music. Leonard and George Luepke, Ernst and Bernard Krause, Eugene Rindfleisch and Elmer Bruss will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Rux Funeral Home.

Mr. Stelzl was born Jan. 6, 1924 in the town of Brighton. He attended Brighton and Spencer schools, graduating in 1942 from Spencer High School. He lived all of his life on the farm that was homesteaded by his grandparents in the 1880s.

He was a member of Spencer Rural Fire Department and Spencer FFA Alumni, president of Farmer’s Coop Board of Directors, former chairman of the town of Brighton, past president of Spencer Agricultural Advisory Council, 4-H leader of Brighton Recneps, and member and former elder of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He married Joan Ott June 27, 1952 at Grace Lutheran Church in Marshfield. She survives along with four children, Michael of Route 2, Marathon, Mrs. Roger (Janean) Morrow of Route 2, Spencer, and Mark and Janell, both at home; five grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Gerhard (Isabelle) Klein of Route 1, Spencer, Mrs. Richard (Adeline) Hansen of Marshfield, Mrs. Sylvester (Arlene) Stecker of Route 1, Arpin and Mrs. Walter (Gertrude) Stapel of Spencer.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph (Ida Mellenthin) Stelzl.
