Schwantes, Ruth (24 May 1904 - 4 Feb. 1987)

SPENCER - Ruth Schwantes, 82, Route 1, Granton, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday at her home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, with the Rev. William Ruhbusch officiating. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at Rux Funeral Home, Spencer.

The former Ruth Buck was born May 24, 1904, in Marathon County. She was a graduate of Wausau Normal School and taught school for a time. She was married to Walter Schwantes June 3, 1926, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Town of Wien. Her husband died Jan. 28, 1956. They had worked in several cheese factories and in 1949 bought Lynn Dairy Cheese factory, where she served as secretary-treasurer.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Women’s Club and the Ladies Aid.

Surviving are a son, William, Granton; three sisters, Mrs. Ray (Inez) Erdman, White Pine, Mich., Mrs. Rex (Delores) Lynch, Milwaukee and Mrs. Frank (Geri) Schjoneman, California; four grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, two daughters, a brother and three sisters.
