Schwantes, Herman (17 Jan. 1857 - 12 Feb. 1943)

The body of Herman Schwantes, 86, Spencer, who died there yesterday morning at 5:30 o’clock, will be buried in the West Spencer cemetery following funeral services Monday afternoon at 1:45 o’clock at the family home and at 2 o’clock at Trinity Lutheran church in that village. The Rev. A. C. Stapel will officiate.

Mr. Schwantes was born January 17, 1857 in Germany and had lived for 70 years in Spencer. He was married there in 1880. His wife preceded him in death. Surviving are six children, Mrs. Charles Griepentrog and George Schwantes, Spencer, Mrs. Len Nickel, Unity, Mrs. Elmer Nelson, Chippewa Falls, and Mrs. John Izydorek and Mrs. Alex Ohlgren, Minneapolis, a sister, Mrs. Ernest Rindfleisch, Jefferson; a brother, Charles Schwantes, Minneapolis, 31 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
