Spencer - Mrs. August Schwantes, 64, who suffered a paralytic stroke about a year ago, died at 6:30 o’clock Sunday morning at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schwantes, 4 ˝ miles west of Spencer.

The body will lie in state at the Swarthout Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 o’clock, followed by a 2 o’clock service at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. A. C. Stapel officiating. Mrs. Schwantes was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society. Burial will be made in North Lutheran cemetery. Mrs. Schwantes, nee Helen Cammers, was born in Two Rivers Oct. 11, 1878, and when a child came to Spokeville with her parents. She was married Jan. 16, 1898, to August Schwantes of Spencer, who preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1936.

After living on a farm 3 ˝ miles west of Spencer for 45 years, she moved to the village of Spencer, where she suffered a paralytic stroke Jan. 22, 1942, and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, for treatment. For the past month, she had been at her son’s home. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Otto (Laura) Manthe, Unity, and Mrs. George (Myrtle) Greeler, Spencer; two sons, Emil, of Spencer and Alvin of Loyal; a sister, Mrs. Ed Young, Spokeville, and a brother, Arthur Cammers, Spokeville. Another son died.
