Klubertanz, Lucilia (9 Nov. 1914 - 4 Dec. 2005)

Lucilia Klubertanz passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, peacefully at home. Lucilia was born Nov. 9, 1914, in rural Spencer. She completed her primary and secondary education in Spencer. As a young woman, she came to Madison, with wishes to become a nurse. She instead devoted her life to raising a family and to day care services to numerous families and children in her home.

She married Alphonse Klubertanz in 1941 and resided in the community of Sun Prairie for all her life where she raised seven children. She was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church and the Society of St. Ann's Circle. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Duffy and Jilene (Roger Offerdahl) Klubertanz; five sons, Allan (Jan), Dale, Gary (Penny), Loren (Wanda) and Myron; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She is also survived by three sisters, Bernice McIhattan, Marcella (Lester) Smith and Doris (Merlin) Schultz; and a brother, Norbert Mellenthin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonse; parents, Herman Mellenthin, Sabina Graham and stepfather Harry Graham.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie. Father Michael Radowicz will preside.

The visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at the Tuschien-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be made to Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund.

Lucilia was devoted to her family, her church and to the many children she cared for in her home. She was kind, caring and compassionate. She will be remembered for the strength and independence she demonstrated throughout her life. The family extends special thanks to the staff of Prairie Gardens Assisted Living, St. Mary's Renal Center, Dr. Thomas and Hospice Care for the special care and support they provided.
