Bruss, Frances (1 June 1898 - 18 Apr. 1983)

SPENCER - Mrs. August (Frances) Bruss, 84, a former Spencer resident, died Monday evening at Continental Nursing Home, Abbotsford.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. William H. Ruhbusch officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran church, North Spencer. Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Visitations will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at Rux Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bruss, the former Frances Manthe, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Ida Luepke) Manthe June 1, 1898, in Spencer.

She and August Bruss were married April 30, 1918 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Spencer. They farmed in the Town of Brighton until 1949, when they moved to Spencer. Three years ago she entered the nursing home. Her husband died Dec. 10, 1965.

A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mrs. Bruss is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gerhard (Valda) Ziehlsdorf of Ocala, Fla., Mrs. Leonard (Florence) Jasinski of Milwaukee and Mrs. William (Marcia) Denk, Greenwood; a son, Elmer Bruss of Route 1, Spencer; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, a brother and a sister.
