Wilson, Frank J. (30 December 1924 - 28 November 1980) With Flag

A Town of Weston Native, Frank J. Wilson, 55, passed away after a lingering illness on Friday, November 28, in Neillsville Memorial Hospital.

Wilson was born on December 30, 1924, in the Town of Weston to Frank H. and Clara (Marquardt) Wilson. He received his education in Town of Weston schools. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as mechanic until his discharge in 1946. That year he married Emma Holt in May 23, Greenwood ceremonies. The couple farmed in the Town of Weston until moving to Milwaukee in 1951. He worked at various jobs in that city until moving back to the Town of Weston in 1964. He was then employed by Weyerhauser Lumber until retiring in 1968 due to failing health.

Surviving him, besides his wife, three sons, Harold and Robert, both of Neillsville, and Michael of Granton; five daughters, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Schmitz and Mrs. James (Delores) Horn, both of Greenwood, Diane of Marshfield and Karen and Mrs. Allan (Beverly) Boon, both of Neillsville; his mother, Clara Wilson, Neillsville; and eight grandchildren. Also, surviving him are three sisters, Mrs. Ferdinand (Cecelia) Langreck of Greenwood, Mrs. Floyd (Hilda) Richmond of Royalton, Mn., and Mrs. Donald (Catherine) Wieting of Menomonee Falls, and two brothers, Charles of Moweaqua, Il., and John of Leadville, Co. He was preceded in death by his father, one son and two sisters.

The deceased was a member of the St. Mary’s parish, the Knights of Columbus and the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post in Neillsville.

Funeral services were held on Monday morning, December 1, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville with the Rev. Joseph Henseler officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were held on the morning of Monday, December 1, for Mr. Wilson, 55, of Neillsville, who passed away on November 28, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville, with the Rev. Joseph Henseler officiating, Burial was made in the parish cemetery. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

St. Mary’s Choir offered “The Old Rugged Cross,” “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “In The Garden and “I Am the Bread of Life,” accompanied by Mrs. Glenn Short.

Serving as pallbearers were Francis, Gregory and Robert Langreck, Edward and John Weiting, Gerald Opelt and Hubert and Verland Schmidt.

Attending the services from out of town were Clara Tobin, Donald Holt, Mr./Mrs. James Horn & family, Mr./Mrs. Hubert Schmitz, Mr./Mrs. Greg Langreck, Mr./Mrs. Richard Scherer & family, Mr./Mrs. Richard Schmitz & family, and Mr/Mrs. Fred Langreck, all of Greenwood; Mr./Mrs. Michael Wilson and Mr./Mrs. Ray Hetzel, of Granton; Mr./Mrs. Robert Langreck, Spencer; Mr./Mrs. Charles Wilson, Moweaqua, Ill.; Mr./Mrs. James Schwedler, Slinger; Mr./Mrs. Donald Wieting and Edward Wieting, of Menomonee Falls; Mr./Mrs. Robert Wieting & Carrie, West Bend; Jerome Wieting and Bev. Andrews, of Milwaukee; Mr./Mrs. John Wilson, Leadville, Co.; and Mrs. Frank Trunkel, Woodville.

Rapids; Mr./Mrs. Francis Langreck, St. Paul, Mn.
