The Rev. Charles B. Sanford, who was living at 109 W. Central Ave, Loyal, until his appointment early in June to a study leave, now resides at 1202 School Road, Tomahawk. He pastored United Methodist Churches in Loyal, York Center and Granton from 1977 until June, coming to this area from Brookfield. Sanford was born in 1920 from Syracuse, New York. He received his B.A. degree at Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and the varsity debate squad. his M.Dvi. degree was attained from Colgate-Rochester Divinity School and his M.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In 1944 he was ordained at Syracuse, New York, and in 1965 was ordained an elder and full member of Wisconsin United Methodist Conference. He affiliated with church groups, local ministerial groups and the United Methodist Conference Committee. His wife is the Rev. Lourinda R. Sanford, pastor of Tomahawk United Methodist Church. The Sanfords served as pastors for 15 years in Vermont, three Years in New York State and 18 years in Wisconsin. He is the author of two books on Thomas Jefferson, "Thomas Jefferson and His Library" and The Religious life of Thomas Jefferson," to be published later this year. His successor at the three area parishes is Rev. C. Arlene Denzer, formerly of Glenwood City.
