The Owen Enterprise recently received word that Mrs. Anthony (Darlene) Jarocki of Withee, Wisconsin was the winner in the Farm Wife News “Rural Recipe Round-up” doughnut contest. She won the contest with her recipe for “Polske Paczki,” an ethnic Polish doughnut.

The recipe and Jarocki family are featured in an article in the July 1977 issue of Farm Wife News, a national publication for rural women.

Anthony and Darlene, along with their six children, run a dairy farm near Withee, with 100 Holstein cows registered under the “Darian” name. In addition to her cooking, Darlene is one of those many farm wives who do everything on the farm, including driving a tractor.

The doughnut contest which Darlene entered, started in the February issue of Farm Wife News, and the deadline for all recipes was April 15, 1977. The prize for the lucky winner is a free dinner for four at any restaurant of her choice.
