Each year the Mathematical Association of America sponsors a high school
mathematics contest. Usually more than 18,000 Wisconsin high school students
participate in this contest.
The contest has been described as “algebra, geometry, and ingenuity,” and is
designed for students who have studied at least one year of algebra and one
semester of geometry. It is intended to identify and reward the very good and to
stimulate and encourage all students in mathematics.
This year’s top scores on the preliminary test were earned by Duane Jarocki and
Don Hill. Duarne is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Jarocki of Withee. Don is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hill of Owen. Duane and Don will advance to the finals
in Eau Claire on Saturday, March 26, 1977.
Other students who also deserve recognition for their efforts are : Denise
Klapatauskas, Brian Vedder, LeAnn Bruchert, Diane Jarocki and Scot
Christophersen..
