Bishop Marjorie Swank Matthews announced the appointment of the Rev. Charles W. Strong, pastor of United Methodists Churches at Spencer and Colby, to be associate pastor of Bashford United Methodist Church in Madison. The appointment was announced at the 14th session of the Wisconsin Conference June 1-5 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Strong, his wife, Linda and their children, Kirsten and Michael, left for Madison Wednesday. He came to the Spencer/Colby in June 1978. He was secretary-treasurer of the Marshfield Area Clergy Association and a member of the Spencer Lions Club.

His replacement, the Rev. Kenneth B. Barnes, will pastor the Spencer and Colby Churches. Barnes, who entered the United Methodist ministry in 1956, has served Wisconsin churches at Blanchardville, Fayette, Gays Mills, Seneca, Barnum, Bell Center, Exeland, Birchwood, Brunette, Clear Lake, Deer Park, Forest, Cylon, Augusta and Pleasant Valley. The new pastor is expected this week.
