Vows of holy matrimony were exchanged between Miss Arlene Amelia Petke, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Petke, route 1, Withee and Clayton E. Bowe, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Bowe, Greenwood, at a marriage service at 2 p.m., Saturday,
January 4, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee. Rev. Leroy Urman officiated
the service.
Miss Sharon Heideman, Withee, was the organist and Miss Marilyn Duval, St. Paul,
Minnesota, the soloist sang “O Promise Me” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Red poinsettas were placed on the altar and white satin bows with red poinsettas
in the center were placed on each pew.
The bride’s attire was a floor-length white brocade satin gown with chapel
train, seed pearls trimming the neckline and bodice. An open crown of seed
pearls held her finger-tip veil of silk illusion. The bride’s bouquet was of red
and white carnations centered with red poinsettias.
Miss Becola Bowe, Greenwood, was maid of honor and Miss Kathleen Petke,
Miieapolis, and Miss Margaret Bowe, Greenwood, were bridesmaids. They wore white
brocade satin frocks in street length, also white fur hats. Each had a white fur
muff with red poinsettias.
Arthur Petke Jr., Withee was the best man and Maynard Bowe and James Hinker,
both of Greenwood, were groomsmen. Ted Petke, Withee, and Otto Petke, Waterloo,
Wisconsin, were ushers.
The wedding reception was held at the Legion Hall in Owen and the wedding dance
at the Silver Dome.
The bride was a graduate in 1962 of Greenwood High School and 1963 from Humbolt
Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She had been working in Loyal. The bridegroom
a 1959 graduate of Greenwood High School, works for O. W. Trindal, Loyal.
After a wedding trip to Chicago and Minneapolis, the Bowes will live in Loyal.
Guests attending from Loyal were Miss Sherry Loos, Mr. and Mrs. George
Schellinger, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Geiger, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sands, Mr. and Mrs.
Rueben Zimmerman, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bowe and family, Mr. and Mrs. keith Zinsli,
Mrs. W. W. Trindal and Mrs. Orin Trindal.
