Body of Former Marshfield Woman Brought Here For Burial

Burial rites were held today at Hillsite cemetery for Mrs. Anna Maurer, 55, widow of the late Joseph Maurer and a resident of this city for a number of years prior to 1910, who died Thursday morning at her home in Stevens Point. A requiem mass was held at 9 o’clock this morning in St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Stevens Point, with Father Henry J. Ehr officiating.

The following obituary is from the Stevens Point Journal of October 29.

An illness of two months terminated fatally at 10:15 o’clock this morning for Mrs. Anna Maurer, 112 Center Street, widow of the late Joseph Maurer. Death was caused directly from a third stroke of paralysis, which she experienced on Wednesday. Mrs. Maurer was brought home last Sunday from Madison, where she had been under treatment at the Jackson clinic.

Geiger, George (1822 - 28 NOV 1908)   

 

NOTE: based on the 1900 Census, he was 68 not 86 (b. 1839) – confirmed in “Marshfield News”

 

Early on Saturday morning John Geiger of this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) received the sad news over the wire that his father, George Geiger, had died that morning at Marshfield. Mr. and Mrs. John Geiger and Miss Mary Geiger immediately drove to Spencer and took the train from there to Marshfield.

 

The deceased had retired as usual that night, but when called in the morning he failed to respond, and upon making an investigation it was found that he had passed away during the night.

 

The deceased was 86 years of age. He leaves three sons, John of this village and Frank and George of Marshfield, two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Mauer of Marshfield and Miss Mary Geiger of this village.

 

The funeral services were held at Marshfield from the Catholic Church on Monday morning at 10 o'clock.
