Gertrude Malchow (27 Nov 1891 – 13 Feb 1970)

Funeral services were held at 1:30pm today (Monday) at Peace Evangelical United Church of Christ for Mrs. Gertrude Malchow, 78, Dorchester, who died at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield.

The Rev. Joseph Jeide, pastor, officiated and burial was made in the Dorchester Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were George and William Rau, Max and Jerome Kronschnabl and Edwin and Ernest Johnson.

The former Gertrude Froland was born November 27, 1891, at Dorchester. Her first marriage was to Andrew Fritsch who preceded her in death in 1922. She married William Malchow at Dorchester January 28, 1928. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1965.

She lived on a farm in the town of Mayville until four years ago, when she moved into Dorchester. She was a member of Peace Evangelical United Church of Christ, the Royal Neighbors, the Women’s Guild and the County Line Homemakers Club.

Survivors include the following children, Herbert Fritsch, Milwaukee; Vernon Fritsch, Grovetown, Ga.; Miss Jeanette Fritsch, Dorchester; Mrs. Harold (Audrey) Stevens, Janesville; Roger Malchow, West Allis; and Herbert Malchow, Antigo. There are 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Wesley Froland, Pensacola, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Brecklin, Appleton.

She was also preceded in death by a sister.
