Harry Knaack (21 Aug 1866 – 29 Jan 1949)
Funeral services for Harry Knaack, 62, were held from Peace Evangelical and
Reformed church here at 2 p. m. Tuesday Feb. 1, with the Rev. Fred W. Kollath,
pastor, officiating at the rites. Interment was in the parish cemetery north of
the village. Pallbearers were Charles Bischoff, Leonard Bischoff, Ray Denzin,
Alvin Denzin, Eldred Empey, Robert Venzke, and Orville Frahm. Fuchsgruber
Funeral Service had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Knaack died at his home, Jerkwater, about 10 a. m. Saturday, Jan. 29. He had
suffered an intermittently serious illness for some time before. Harry Knaack
was born at Braddock, Pa., Aug. 21, 1886. At the age of one year, he came with
his parents to Dorchester, where his father was employed in a lumber mill. He
was reared in this community, and upon the death of his father, assumed
operation of the tavern at Jerkwater, where he had resided since.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Knaack, Owen, and two sisters, Mrs. Herbert
(Emma) Frank, Minneapolis, Minn. and Mrs. Minnie Himes, in New York state. Two
brothers, Ed and Albert, preceded him in death. Both gave their lives in army
service during 1917-18, one on a European battlefield, and the other in a
training camp in this country.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Knaack were here for the funeral
services.
