Henke, Joseph R. (03 MAY 1905 – 21 MAR 1972)


Joseph R. Henke, 66, of 1911-A N. 10th St., an employee of the city's Department of Public Works for 35 years, died this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born at Kiel on May 3, 1905, son of the late Robert J. and Mary A. Dickrell Henke, and attended Ss. Peter and St. Paul Catholic School in Kiel before coming to Sheboygan in 1919.

He married Irma Schroeder at Holy Name Catholic Church on Oct. 26, 1926. She died on Oct. 1, 1970.
Mr. Henke was a city truck driver, retiring in 1967.
He was a member of Holy Name parish, Apostolate of Suffering and of the City's Employees Union.

{Survivors omitted for privacy} He was preceded by three sisters.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Name Church. The Rev. Laurence J. Waleske, pastor, will be celebrant. Brief family rites will be conducted at the Kroos-Mason Funeral Home at 9:30. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
