Stigen, Mr. and Mrs. Nordahl (Golden - 1968)

Mr. and Mrs. Nordahl Stigen celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary with their family at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schultz, Saturday.

A dinner was served in the afternoon and the table was decorated with a wedding cake trimmed in gold and a gold money tree, a gold guest book for all the guests to sign.

Relatives came to enjoy the day with them. A pleasant surprise was the arrival of Mrs. Stigen’s sister, Mabel Stroud, who flew in from Michigan to be present. Two other sisters, Mrs. Tomten and Mrs. Hauson from La Crosse, also were present. Mr. Stigen’s sister and brother, Mrs. Hagen and William Stigen came from Westby.

There are eight children and all were present for the occasion: Archie, from Winamac, Ind.; Wesley, from Chicago; Argil, Chicago; Bob, Minneapolis; Mrs. Howard (Joyce) Schultz, Greenwood; Mrs. Robert (Given) Gress, Neillsville; Mrs. Gary (Shirley) Northup, Union Grove; and Mrs. Bob (Pat) Du Pree, from Bristol. They have 23 grandchildren.

There are five grandsons in service. Three brothers, Duane, Leon and Leslie Stigen, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Stigen, are in the Navy; Wesley Stigen, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Stigen, Sr., is a paratrooper and Dennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schultz is a Navy man. Dennis called from California and his grandparents enjoyed a conversation with him on Saturday.

Money and other gifts were received. Many cards also were received from friends and relatives.

Guests who came to enjoy the day were from La Crosse, Onalaska, Westby, Coon Valley, Curtiss, Mindoro, Woodstock, Ill. and Neillsville, and Michigan.

Mr. and Mrs. Stigen were married in Winona, Minn., and lived around Westby until 1936, when they moved to Clark County, where they have since resided.
