born in the state of Massachusetts and died at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 18 days. Moved from Massachusetts to Ohio with his parents when a small boy and grew to manhood there. He was married to Sarah Cook in Ohio July 25, 1856. Living in Ohio seven years they moved from there to Wisconsin in 1867, settling in the town of Hewett where he lived until four years ago. His wife died in 1888. To this union six children were born, one girl and five boys, all of whom preceded him in death except Dwight, who lives in Ashland, Wisconsin. He was married again in 1889 to Mrs. Cornelia Meyers and four children were born to them, Mrs. Kit Jones of Fairfax, N.D., Mrs. Olive Ableiter of Neillsville, Charles and Walter of Neillsville. He was honored with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves five brothers and one sister, Eli and Mary of Quincy, Ohio, Ephriam of Alma, Mich., Dan of Hayward, Wis., Nelse of Black River Falls and Aiden of Neillsville. Eli, Ephriam, Dan and Andrew all served in the Civil War. Andy, as he was commonly called, being stricken with paralysis, spent the last four years of his life at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Waupaca. He was here for a 60-day visit with his daughter, Mrs. Ableighter, last winter, being the only time he was away from the home in the four years. He died there June 9th, the remains being brought to Neillsville for burial. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church June12, where Rev. Pinney conducted the last sad parting.
