The Rev. Robert Everhard, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford, and his family moved to the city last week. The Rev. Everhard will be installed Sunday during 11 a.m. services.

He is a native of Milwaukee and graduated from Juneau High School there. Upon graduation he served a period of time in the U.S. Army. Following military service he entered a management training program with the J. C. Penny Company in Milwaukee. He then entered Carroll College in Waukesha, graduating in 1954. He entered Dubuque Theological Seminary, receiving his B. D. in 1957. He was ordained Jun 7, 1957 by the Milwaukee Presbytery. He has since served churches in Lodi and most recently at Hillside, Illinois.

The Rev. Everhard and his wife, Delores, have three children, Darlene, a freshman at Carroll College, Dale, a senior in high school, and Donald, a freshman.

Membership Shields were presented to members of the American Legion Auxiliary, Otto H. Kops, Unit 358 of Unity, for continuous membership in the auxiliary. Dorothy Neuman presented a shield and carnation to Eda Francen, Signe Johnson, Ella Kanter and Frieda Mews. Myra Evenson, was honored as a member for 50 years.

Navy Seaman Recruit Diane M. Blunt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Blunt, Route 2, Colby, has completed recruit Training at the Naval Training Center, Orlando, Florida.

During the eight-week training cycle, trainees studied general military subjects designed to prepare them for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy’s 85 basic occupational fields.

Included in their studies were seamanship, close order drill, Naval history and first aid.

She joined the Navy in March 1977.

About 30 friends and neighbors gathered at the Dennis Kuehling farm located one mile west on Unit on Monday to help him raise rafters and shingle the roof of his new 36 by 112 foot barn. It will feature 55 tie stalls for cows and calves. The barn was built on the site of the old barn that was bulldozed and burned.

Heise, Alvina (17 Feb 1897 – 15 Jun 1977)

Funeral services were held for Alvina Heise, age 80, of Colby, Saturday, June 18, 1977 at 2 p.m. at First United Church of Christ, Colby. The Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated. Burial followed in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Miss Heise passed away Wednesday, June 15, 1977 at the Continental Manor in Abbotsford.

Miss Heise was born February 17, 1897 in Oconomowoc. She never married. She received her education in the Colby schools and kept house for her parents and later for the Umhoefer family for many years.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ.

She is survived by a brother, Walter Heise, Cudahy, and two nephews, Kenneth and Dennis Heise.

Baptism sponsors were Judy Gumz and Kenneth Hackel. A reception and supper were held at the Ervin Hackel home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gum and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Hackel, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hackel and family, Wausau.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Geiger, Colby, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield on June 10, 1977. He weighed 6 pounds, 11 and ½ ounces and was 19 ½ inches long. They named him Randy Lee.

He joins a sister, Stacy Marie, 13 months, and a brother, Matthew Allen, 3 ½ years.

Grandparents are Mrs. Elsie Timm, Greeley, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Geiger, Colby. Great-grandparents are John Pollack, Colby, Mrs. Minnie Timm, Davenport, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Deppe, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Henkel, Ruth D. (28 Jul 1909 – 11 Jun 1977)

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 14, 1977 at 11 a.m. for Ruth Dorothy Henkel, age 67, Modesto, California, at the Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby.

The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix officiated at the rites. Burial followed at the Odd Fellow Cemetery at Sacramento, California.

Mrs. Henkel passed away at the home of Marcellus Foster, Route 1, Colby, on June 11, 1977.

The former Ruth Flink was born on July 28, 1909 in Sacramento, California. She married Harvey Henkel on May 3, 1931, in Sacramento. He survives.

She is further survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Galbreath, White River Junction, Vermont; two grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Minnie Flink, Rancho Cordova, California; two brothers, Albert Flink, San Francisco, California, and Andrew Flink, Rancho Cordova, California,, and two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Warren and Mrs. Betty Plant, both of Long Beach.

The 1952 graduating class of the Abbotsford High School held its 25th reunion Saturday, June 18, 1977, at the Olde Cedar House in Abbotsford.

The evening began with a tour of the new Abby High School building, followed by a cocktail hour and 7:30 dinner.

Those in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson, Abby; Mrs. Bill Geary, Baraboo; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Rankl (Arlene Carlson), Abby; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hawks (Dorothy Wilson), Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burt (Shirley Erickson), Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Schlichting (Mildred Wendtland), Mukwonago; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wendtland (Darlene (Weldon), Edgar; Mr. and Mrs. Florian Ahles (Joyce Schaefer), Mosinee; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Intribus, Shawano; Mrs. Floyd Klemetson (Lila Meske), Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Prough, St. Louis, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schemenauer, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Strom (Yvonne Uhlig), Isanti, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beran, Athens, and special guest Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Juneau, New Lisbon.

Bill Geary acted as master of ceremonies. He led the group in prayer before the meal and offered a moment of silence for two deceased members of the class, Mary Dolan and Muriel Sprotte.

Award were given to Mildred Schlichting for the first reservation, James Rankl for having come the longest distance, Bill Geary for acting as master of ceremonies, and Arlene Rankl for being general chairman. Other members of the planning committee were Shirley Burt, Dorothy Hawks and Robert Anderson.
