Tyrone S. Swallow, 45, of Evansdale, IA, and formerly of Black River Falls, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in the Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD.
Tyrone Stewart Swallow was born October 17, 1963, in Black River Falls to Gaylord and Christiane (Sam) Swallow. He was raised in Black River Falls and, mainly, in the Waterloo, IA area. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1982.
He was a Marine Corps veteran.
Tyrone married Lori Morse in Iowa. In addition to having lived in Evansdale, IA, they also lived in Kansas City, MO, Independence, MO, and Lawrence, KS. He had worked at several jobs but was mainly a machinist in the paper products industry. He had worked as a machinist in Kansas City, MO, Evansdale, IA, and Waterloo, IA.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Swallow of Evansdale, IA; a daughter, Amanda Jo Swallow of Evansdale; a son, Vance Tyler Swallow serving with the U. S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, CA; three brothers, Troy (Tara) Swallow of Tomah, Truman Williams, Jr. of Sparta and Francis “Frank” Williams of Black River Falls; and two sisters, Stephanie (Richard) Mueller of Waukesha and Christie Williams of Sparta.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vance.
Native American Church funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, at the District One Community Center, rural Black River Falls. Burial with military honors by the Andrew Blackhawk American Legion Post 129 followed in the Decorah Cemetery, also in Rural Black River Falls. Stuart Lonetree presided over the services.
Family and friends were invited for visitation at the District One Community Center after 4 p.m. Friday and until the time of services Saturday.
The Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, assisted the family with arrangements.
