Blackcoon, Blanche (2 May 1934 – 27 October 2008)
Blanche Blackcoon, 74, of Black River Falls passed away Monday, October 27, 2008, at her home.
Native American Church Commitment Services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2008, 1 p.m., at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, Mann John Falcon will be presiding over services.
Family and friends are invited for visitation Wednesday, October 29, 2008, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Buswell Funeral Home.
Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Blanche Blackcoon, 74, of Black River Falls passed away Monday, October 27, 2008, at her home under the care of Black River Hospice. She was born May 2, 1934, in Baraboo to Harvey and Lena (Bigsoldier) Blackcoon, Sr.
Blanche grew up in Trempealeau and Augusta. Following high school, Blanche attended University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
She worked at Presto Industries in Chippewa Falls and also worked as a cook, waitress and homemaker. She moved to Black River Falls in 1989.
Blanche was a member of the Native American Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, making baskets and fishing.
She is survived by two daughters, Lyra Thorpe of Black River Falls and Michelle DeCora of La Crosse; sons, Jeffrey Smith of Eau Claire and Jason (Carla) Blackcoon of Cataract; sisters, Delphine Blackcoon of Baraboo, Joyce (Louis) Buchanan of Augusta, Frieda Blackcoon of Galesville and Faye (David) Larson of Eau Claire; brother, Milner Blackcoon of Galesville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Sr. and Lena; sons, Dennis and Elliot; an infant daughter; brothers, Harvey Jr., Leon and Cecil; and sister, Mercedes Blackcoon.
Native American Church Commitment Services were held Thursday, October 30, 2008, 1 p.m. at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. Mann John Falcon presided over services. Family and friends were invited for visitation Wednesday, October 29, 2008, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Buswell Funeral Home.
