Hostrawser, Vergene J. (27 June 1929 – 26 January 2010)

 

Vergene J. (Mrs. Glenn P.) Hostrawser, 80, of Black River Falls died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, in the Pine View Care Center while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, from the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Pastor Eric Bakken will conduct services, and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.

 

Relatives and friends may call at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321), Black River Falls on Friday from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Vergene J. Hostrawser, 80, of Black River Falls died Tuesday Jan. 26, 2010, in the Pine View Care Center in Black River Falls while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospital. 

 

Vergene was born June 27, 1929, in Black River Falls to John R. and Emma (Hagen) Negard.

 

She graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1947.  Following graduation, she worked in Minneapolis and worked for the phone company, Camp McCoy and Quick Electric until retirement.

 

She married Glenn P. Hostrawser Aug. 20, 1949, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls.  She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.  She was active in the church circle, and she was a member of the Clio Club.  She loved growing flowers, especially geraniums.

 

She was a very kind and loving person.  Her family was very important to her, and she was proud of their accomplishments.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Jean (Jeff) Duxbury, Black River Falls, Kristin (Troy) McDonald, Onalaska, and Jane (Ron) Shearer, Oviedo, FL; two sisters, Vera Quick, Black River Falls, and Eleanor Mull, Sparta; five grandchildren, Erika and Ethan Duxbury, Cole and Emma McDonald and Emilie Shearer.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn P., Nov. 24, 2004; her parents and two brothers, Roger and John Negard.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church, pastor Eric Bakken officiated, and burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.  Relatives and friends called at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321), Black River Falls on Friday from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

 

The family prefers memorials be given to the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
