Colwell, Dudley M (5 July 1922 – 5 October 2009)


Dudley M. Colwell, 87, of Racine and formerly of Taylor passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at Aurora Saint Luke’s Hospital in Cudahy.


Dudley was born July 5, 1922 in Taylor to parents Earl and Mary (Rediske) Colwell.  He was one of 13 children and his family operated a dairy farm in rural Taylor. He graduated from Taylor High School.


Before moving to Racine, Dudley worked for many farmers in the area and then for Norm Christensen of Franksville.  He then worked for Novak Appliance of Racine, retiring in 1985.  He then was self-employed for 15 years in repair business.


His favorite pastimes included visiting with family and friends and watching Westerns.


Dudley is survived by one brother, Frank Colwell of Racine; sisters: Elsie Schiavone of Hanover, PA, Jennie Colwell of Osseo, Eunice (Norman) Moldenhauer of Taylor and Isabelle Moldenhauer of Eau Claire; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his life partner, Marie Lyman; his parents; brothers: Leslie, Willard and Donald; and sisters, Ethel Schiavone, Eleanor Krupp and infant sisters, Illa and Pearl.


Funeral services for Dudley M. Colwell will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, with Reverend John Kaplinski officiating.  Burial will take place at the Colwell Family Cemetery, Taylor.


Friends may call at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home one hour prior to services.
