Olson, Lemuel W. (12 August 1922 – 18 March 2009)

Lemuel W. Olson, 86, of Melrose died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls.

He was born Aug. 12, 1922, in North Bend to Merlin and Emma (Heineck) Olson. He married Eileen Yeske, Jan. 24, 1952. She passed away Nov. 1, 1982.

Lemuel was a lifelong farmer in the Melrose area, semi-retiring in March of 1978. In October of 1991 he sold the farm to his son James.

He had served on the Melrose-Mindoro School Board, AMPI Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of the Mindoro Co-op and Jackson County Fair Board.

He also enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and fishing.

Surviving are two children, James (Kimberly) Olson of Melrose and Linda Olson of West Bend; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Olson, Heidi Olson and Jessica (Brent) Hangartner, all of Melrose; and two great-grandchildren, Kellee and Icean.

Lem married Elaine (Kunes) Pfaff March 20, 1993.

Lem was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Emerson.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. from St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Melrose, with Reverend Floyd Brand officiating. Burial was in the Melrose Cemetery. Friends called at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Memorials may be given to Jackson County Hospice or Mayo Clinic Cancer Research.

Zwickey Funeral Homes, Melrose Chapel assisted the family.
