Neas, Betty Jane (29 June 1932 – 23 November 2008)

Betty J. Neas, 76, of Black River Falls died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, in her home under the care of Black River Hospice.

Betty Jane Erickson was born June 29, 1932, in the Town of Albion to Elmer and Dorothy (Calkins) Erickson. She was raised in the Town of Albion.

She was married to LaVern Neas Dec. 30, 1966, in Black River Falls. The couple first lived in Black River Falls for several years before moving to Lake Mills. They later returned to Black River Falls. LaVern Neas died Feb. 5, 1998.

Betty had been employed as a dispatcher by Falls Taxi Service.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking and playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter, Dawn (Robert) Anderson of Lake Mills; three sons, Rick Bauer of Black River Falls, Jeff Trones of La Crosse and Vaughn Trones of Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren, Susan Bauer, Tim Bauer, Kris Bauer, Tyrone Trones, Cheyenne Trones, Tamra Trones, Jennifer Trones, Ryan Anderson, Natasha Anderson, Tera Trones, Cory Trones and Sam Trones; two great-grandchildren, Kia and Jase; a stepdaughter, Carolyn (Edmund) Bell of Texas; a stepson, Duane (Patti) Neas of North Carolina; two sisters, Dona Mathews of Black River Falls and Sherry (Terry) Nichols of Melrose; a special cousin, Lavon (Bob) Schuller of Black River Falls; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, LaVern, she was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Dorothy Erickson; a son, Terry Trones; a sister, Sheila Lamon; and two brothers, Elwood Erickson and Leo Erickson.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. Burial will be in the Little Norway Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Black River Falls. Rev. Calvin Thoreson will officiate.

Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the funeral home.
